Five Below — the Philadelphia-based value retailer — was just beginning its national expansion when A F Alber came on board. Since then, the program has grown to more than 500 locations across 20+ states.
Five Below stores are typically around 8,000 SF. A F Alber handles new build-outs, renovations, refreshes, and relocations. The program is still active, though at a less aggressive pace than the peak expansion years. Five Below now operates over 1,800 stores in 46 states.
A F Alber's rollout work is built around schedule consistency, prototype discipline, permitting coordination across jurisdictions, and repeatable execution for brand teams and construction managers.
The Five Below relationship traces directly back to Electronics Boutique. One of A F Alber's primary contacts at EB went on to become Senior Vice President of Construction at Five Below. He brought A F Alber with him. The first Five Below store was built in 2009, and what started as a handful of locations quickly grew into one of the most prolific retail rollout programs on the East Coast.
